I love this video of the EverydayDriver guys taking their stock FR-S to a track day and destroying everything else, including an M6 and and M3. Granted they had an instructor on board (did the other cars?), but what a great illustration of how power is only a part of the equation.

With expert drivers and massive straights, yeah; looks like Miller is more corner-focused, where obviously this car will do better, especially among open track day drivers.

But you would have more fun than everyone else. And that makes you a winner!

“How long have you been doing this?”
“About a year and a half!”
And that’s the scary thing about “instructors” at track days. A lot of them are just guys that have enough track experience to be reasonably competent on a race track and are friends with the organizers. While I guess if you are teaching the beginner group you really don’t have to know all that much, it is definitely something to dig into before you take everything they say to heart. They might not know as much as they think they do.

Is it like a student voice or piano instructor? They know enough to get a novice started, whereupon if the novice wants to go farther, they can level up to a more experienced teacher, etc. etc.

You’d be surprised what passes what at a trackday. I lap GT3’s and Z06’s constantly. Not because my car is better, but because the other drivers aren’t comfortable with their car, and have no idea of it’s limits. Most of these guys should have signed up for novice.
I’ve also been passed by miatas.
